We are looking for applicants from the following degree programs:
Business Administration (BWL), Business Law (B) and (M), International Business (B), Wirtschaft & Politik (B), Immobilienwirtschaft (B), Arbeit & Personal (M)

Why should you become a First-Semester Buddy?
✔ Support new students: Help them quickly navigate university life.
✔ Share your experience: Remember your own first semester at HTW? Now you can pass on your valuable insights!
✔ Earn credits or a certificate: You’ll receive 2 credit points or a certificate of participation recognizing your social engagement.
✔ Develop soft skills: Enhance your communication, teamwork, and organizational abilities.

What’s in store for you?
- Teamwork: Together with another Buddy (your Co-Buddy), you’ll guide a group of first-year students from your degree program throughout the winter semester of 2025/26.
- AWE Course "Service Learning – First-Semester Buddy": Regular meetings with Dr. Dietrich to help you prepare for your sessions with the first-year students and provide opportunities to exchange ideas with the other buddies.
- Supporting new students: Answer their questions, assist them with orientation, and ease their transition into university life.

Who can apply?
Students from Faculty 3 at HTW who are currently in at least their 2nd bachelor’s semester and are excited to take on the role of a buddy. At least one buddy of a team of two should understand German well.

Please include the following information in your application:
1. Your study program
2. Your current semester
3. Your student ID number
4. A brief explanation of why you want to become a First-Semester-Buddy

Tip: Apply as a team of two - if you would like to complete the buddy program together with a person of your choice, name the other person (your Co-Buddy) in your application email so that you can supervise first-year students together! Please note that a separate email from each of you is required.
